Processional float passes through the evening of Palm Sunday in Antigua |
Ok so I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue on posting here! A LOT has happened!
First I want to apologize to Mohammed, whom I've been exchanging emails with regarding Christianity & Islam. I haven't written him back because of how busy I was. I actually had a LOT to write back too but it required a lot of time.
Ok so...let's see....Happy New Year (2012)! Now...in January Shawn (my boyfriend) & I went on vacation to Jordan, Israel, & Bahrain. Well, a blog on our trip is needed all on its own lol but I will say this:
Shawn & I got married in Bethlehem! If you are interested in our story click HERE.
Well here's a summary:
1. Got married in Bethlehem
2. Contract ended in February, left Kuwait & returned to the States
3. Had a formal wedding ceremony end of February
4. Moved to Guatemala in March. We have a B&B as well as run private tours throughout Guatemala.
5. I turned 30!
6. My heart & passion to bring awareness of the persecuted body has not wavered.
7. The weather here is AWESOME! I live in the mountains where average temps are mid 70's F.
I do miss the Middle East though. Yes there are things I dislike about it but I miss it. That culture will forever have a special place in my heart. In fact, here in Guatemala there are a few 'Middle Eastern' restaurants and we get excited about them. I have learned so much about life, culture, religion, people....
It is also funny that I go from one country, where Islam is dominant (though churches do exist in Kuwait, they are seldom seen) to a country where there are old, beautiful, churches everywhere & Christianity/Catholicism is the dominant religion. There is only 1 mosque in Guatemala and you can actually see it across the street from the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City (roughly).
